The benefits can also be built around tax efficient protocols for managing absence and health related issues.

Absence Matters

HCB launched Absence Matters in 2012 as a nurse led rehabilitation service for employers that can be standalone or dovetail with your existing Occupational Medical Services and Insurance programme.

We designed Absence Matters as a bespoke service dedicated to helping employers mitigate the financial risks associated with sickness absence. Our aim is to align it to your business and people culture whilst ensuring that you can see a return on your time and budget investment.

Have no reduction target in place
Believe that levels of absence can be reduced
Had increase in work-related stress

The CIPD in partnership with Simplyhealth produces an annual survey report that sets out the findings of the CIPD’s national survey of absence management trends, policy and practice.

The 2014 report found that savvy employers put policies in place to help staff fulfil their caring responsibilities outside of work while continuing to meet the demands of their job.

"Some level of absence is inevitable, but understanding and addressing  the main causes of absence and supporting employees to make a  speedy return to work can have a significant impact on absence levels."
