We require a qualified RN / RMN / OT who resides in Scotland to fulfil this interesting and varied role.  The role would primarily be home based, but will require regional travel on certain cases, and with occasional attendance at the Company’s office at Harwell, Oxfordshire.

Role profile:

Employee Health Case Management

In this function, you would work with the HR Departments of our client companies, by engaging with absentees who are sick or injured, with a view through early, proactive intervention, to return them to the workplace in optimum time.

This could be either through telephonic case management, or by visiting the absentee in their homes, and potentially their employers.

Written reports will be required, as well as maintaining case notes, typically in an online case management database.

Income Protection Insurance Claims – Home Visiting

This part of the role necessitates visiting individuals making a claim on their income protection insurance policy, when the insurer requires a home visit carried out by a nurse (RN or RMN often specifically requested). These visits are requested when the insurers need a better understanding of the claimant’s circumstances. This is purely an information gathering interview and assessment, there is no requirement at all for clinical care. Training will be provided for the insurance aspects of the work.

Written reports will also be required with these cases, and there are often demanding turnaround times required.

In some cases there are opportunities for case management in terms of rehabilitating the individual back to the work place. You must be able to adhere to deadlines and pay attention to detail.


You will have excellent communication and observational skills and be required to be empathetic and respectful, but rational and detached.

Training in HR and disability issues, and Employee Benefit Plans will be provided, and you will be supported at all times by experienced client service managers.

You would be expected to sign a Consultancy Agreement with Health Claims Bureau, and as most of our Nurses continue to work in a clinical capacity elsewhere in order to maintain professional registration, you will effectively be self employed.

You will need access to your own transport, PC and mobile phone.

Remuneration is  on a case-by-case basis reflecting an agreed fee structure and although regular work cannot be guaranteed, demand for these services is growing rapidly. There are set fees payable for the home visits, and initial telephone case management work. Thereafter, fees are payable on ongoing cases at an hourly rate. The fee schedule will be provided upon request.

There are opportunities for development into Clinical Lead within the Group for the right candidate.
